Simple EASY TO FOLLOW "4x4" & "BUSH" RULES and HINTS:-

  • No beach driving where it is not permitted - in any case sea water will wreck your vehicle
  • Do not remove any animal, bird, plant, insect or reptile from where you find it - you can get prosecuted for this in addition to any damage you do
  • If you are a hunter, only hunt where hunting is properly controlled - we SUPPORT controlled hunting - hunters are generally very conservation conscious and do a lot more than most to preserve and protect their resources
  • "Canned Hunting" of " semi-tame" animals is TRULY DESPICABLE and is definitely for men (if you can call them that) with "no balls at all" - a curse on these people
  • Don't make unnecessary tracks - they cause damage and erosion and spoil the countryside - use existing tracks or roads only
  • Don't remove snares if they are near any fence - rather disable them so they won't catch anything. Otherwise poachers will just cut the fence again to make another snare causing more damage to the park or farm fence. If far from any fence remove them completely
  • Pick up all your litter - what you take with you must come home with you and hopefully you will pick up a bit more - KEEP A REFUSE BAG IN YOUR VEHICLE FOR THIS PURPOSE
  • Don't pee or poep near water holes, streams or rivers - burn toilet paper you have used - in simple terms DON'T LEAVE A MINEFIELD OF YOUR WASTES BEHIND YOU
  • Don't cut down trees or make fires near their roots - how would you like your feet being burned?
  • Don't make camp near a waterhole in areas where water is scarce - give the animals a break - they need to drink. You have no right to scare them away from their water
  • Don't make camp where there are lots of animal tracks - site you camp intelligently
  • Never feed wild animals - they will end up getting SHOT for being a menace
  • Don't tease any animal - if it doesn't hurt you it may well hurt someone else
  • Obey all park rules when in National Parks and elsewhere
  • Try to learn something new each trip you make - that way you will appreciate nature better - there are very good guides on all aspects of nature available from book shops
  • Drive at appropriate speeds and do not exceed maximums permitted - it is generally better to drive slower than the permitted speeds - you will see more
  • Don't light bush fires - they can kill both animals and people apart from doing damage to the natural grazing - let nature take care of itself
  • Don't break Meat Transportation Regulations - you might be spreading Foot and Mouth disease
  • If you are the driver you are responsible for your passengers - if you are a "townie" please don't try to impress people by pretending you know the bush when you don't - this is a sure route to disaster
  • Report poaching and badly behaved tourists to the nearest Game Guard / Park Official
  • Don't make unnecessary noise - it upsets both people and animals and is a sign of a lout
  • If you must get pissed, swear, beat your wife and kids, become abusive to all in sundry and cause annoyance to everyone except yourself PLEASE STAY AT HOME!

LIFE IS QUITE SIMPLE REALLY - BEHAVE LIKE A PIG AND YOU WILL BE TREATED LIKE ONE
