In Africa a GPS is essential. Maps are scarce and signposts even more so. A decent GPS is your assurance of getting where you want to go. We suggest that you take a short course in GPS systems and Basic Mapping so that you do not get confused by the various datum's and projections. Don't go blind. Calibrate them very carefully or you will be way out. Make life easy by wiring your vehicle permanently for a GPS - despite what the Manufacturers say these things can gobble batteries. NEVER EVER TRUST PUBLISHED WAYPOINTS - THEY ARE USEFUL AS A GUIDE ONLY - SOME ARE VERY GOOD BUT BEWARE, MANY WAYPOINTS ARE PROVIDED BY "CLUELESS" PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO IDEA OF HOW TO RECORD THEM - YOU COULD FIND YOURSELF TOTALLY AND UTTERLY LOST BY USING OTHER PEOPLE'S FLAWED DATA Our choice of
