The VENTER TRAILER needs only one modification from standard to be suited to our uses. That is the addition of a shock absorber kit which should be standard but is not.

Our choice of trailer was based on 5 criteria:

  • Price - there is little point of overspending if its not going to be in constant use
  • Quality - the quality level has to be better than acceptable
  • Spare Parts availability - Venter trailers are widely represented
  • Operating Mass - light and sturdy means not having to mess around with braking systems which are just something else to go wrong
  • Suits our vehicle - has what we want for limited use (6 times per year / +-20000 kms)

The South African manufactured VENTER BUSH BABY suits us in every way.

To get it right we have added some additional items of our own - extra Jerry Can holder, water tank, gas bottle holders, shock absorbers, signage etc.

The shock absorber modification

Still to be fitted:

15 & 5 HP Outboard Motors and "Rubber-duck" mounting points - we will take an inflatable boat with us for use on rivers such as Zambezi, Limpopo, Kafue etc as well as Lakes Kariba, Malawi and Cahora Bassa in future.
