Unfortunately, Mozambique's game has never fully recovered from the wars. Between Maputo and Beira the current "big five" are Rats, Chickens, Mongoose, Traffic Cops and Street Vendors.
The establishment of the 3 country Trans-frontier Park with Zimbabwe, Mozambique and South Africa's Kruger National Park cannot work in our opinion. Levels of poverty are so high in Zimbabwe and Mozambique that we can only assume the game crossing the natural boundaries will end up as "protein" for the inhabitants of those countries to the detriment of all concerned. SO MUCH FOR THE POLITICIANS TRYING TO POLISH THEIR MARBLES - TALK IS CHEAP IN AFRICA BUT CHANGING THE SYSTEM LEFT IN PLACE BY PREVIOUS GOVERNMENTS IS FRAUGHT WITH DISASTER.
Mozambique's big attractions are the natural beauty of the country and activities connected with fishing, diving and the sea where it provides you with untold splendours. Highly recommended for "Beach" holidays. A simple Phrase Book will be extremely useful to non-Portuguese speakers. Generally, people are helpful, polite and friendly and are totally fed up with conflict.
